Columbia University Graduate, MA

Stacey Kayden graduated from Columbia University in 1988 and has been a High Tech Learning Specialist at Laney College in Oakland California since 1991.  In addition to being an instructor, she travels throughout California training college staff on applying assistive technology tools to college curriculum.  In addition to training, she has developed a statewide Universal Learning program for the California Community Colleges using assistive technology to provide students with on-demand, multisensory access to classroom instruction.  The program has been uniquely successful at helping instructors integrate technology into their curriculum.

Fueled by her unconventional approach to teaching, she has created a student-centered system integrating assistive technology into the classroom.  Through her program students are technology experts, teacher trainers, and class support.

In 2013 Stacey Kayden and her program were awarded the Professional Recognition Award by the California Association of Postsecondary Education in Disabilities (CAPED).

In addition to teaching Stacey is an avid cyclist and world traveler.
